Free Online Database Server Manager
Efex Database Manager is powerful web-tool for database structure and content management. Currently it supports only Microsoft SQL Server, it was build as alternative to Microsoft SQL Enterprise Manager
Efex Database Manager from the very beginning was initiative of our company and was developed fully for corporate use. But because of its extra-speed and usability it immediately replaced EM. For more than 2 years Efex Database Manager saved hours of our time, because it’s working much faster than Microsoft Enterprise Manager.
We do updates for this quite often in order to add more functionality or make it run more optimal. Currently, we want to share our tool completely FOR FREE, to make your live easier.
What's so bad in Microsoft Enterprise Manager?
- Extremely slow, when working with database on other server - them main reason, our tool was created
- Lack of functionality for showing table's data, especially:
- Pager - all records from table are show on one form. For big tables it's very big disadvantage;
- Data Filtering - there's no ability to set criteria for data to output.
- Manual data editing is done very poorly. Need to go "Open table"-> "Return All Rows", and only than to changes you need
Online Database Manager Features
Basic Features:
- Multi Database Support - ability to select from the list database, that you need to work with (e.g. Server Registration in EM)
- View/Modify of table's structure
- View/Modify of stored procedures
- Add new tables and procedures
- Tables content view (with pager and filter)
- Add/Modify of records
Advances features:
- Uses brand new platform - ASP.NET 2.0
- Doesn't use database for its needs. You only need to set connection(s) to your Database Servers
- Web-Interface - it suites perfectly for setting up on hosting, and for content management on database driven web-sites
- Easy to manage for indexes and primary keys - each operation in only 1 click and without writing any line of code
- Pages is implemented on transaction level, so you don't have any extra traffic
- Records Filter - you see only that information you need. This is very useful features - take a look at screen shot
What it cannot
- Import or Export data;
- Backup / Restore databases;
- Manage security roles.
For these features you still need to use Microsoft Enterprise Manager, however this functionality
needed not really often – so in any case you will save time with our tool.
